Who we are
Cracking is a studio offering fixed-price app and software builds. It is a trading name of The Code Bureau Ltd (company number and registered office are listed in the site footer; those details are placeholders until confirmed). We are based in the United Kingdom.

The £50 scoping call
Paying £50 books a 30-minute scoping call. That payment:
- is for the call itself, not for build work
- is kept if you do not attend (a no-show), or cancel too late for us to reuse the slot
- is credited toward the agreed build price if we go ahead after the call
No design or development work starts until you have been on the call, we have agreed a brief, and you have approved a quote.
We may decline a project after the call. If we decline, we will say so plainly. The £50 still covers the time already booked unless we choose to refund it.
Quotes and builds
After the call we may offer a fixed quote for a Launch, Build, Scale or custom package. The quote is the contract for that work once you accept it in writing (including email).
Unless we agree otherwise in the quote:
- 25% of the quoted price starts the build
- the balance is due before we release the finished work, or on the milestone schedule in the quote
- you can pay in full up front if you prefer
Scope is what is written in the approved brief and quote. Extra features are extra, quoted before we build them.
Your responsibilities
You need to give timely feedback, content, and access (accounts, branding, copy, store listings) so we can do the work. Delays on your side can move dates. Store developer accounts (Apple, Google and similar) are yours to buy and own; we can submit on your behalf once those are set up.
Intellectual property
You own the custom work we produce for you once it is paid for in full. We retain the right to reuse general know-how, libraries and patterns that are not unique to your product. We may show the work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to in writing.
Liability
We take reasonable care. We do not promise a particular commercial result. Our liability for any claim connected to a booking or a build is limited to the amount you have paid us for that booking or that build. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (including lost profit or lost data) except where the law does not allow that limit. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you pay for a call, or when you accept a quote, is the one that applies to that booking or build.
